About Us
The only way is Adventure Race Essex!
Most people think Essex is flat and covered in concrete; I can assure you that this is not the case!
Adventure Race Essex was formed in 2010 by a farmer James Parrish and his fitness trainer Tracey Alexandrou. James’s family had the land and facility, plus the experience to put these large events on. They already have “Rope Runners” an outdoor high rope’s centre, Paint Ball, Motor bike trails, Skating rink, all set around the Secret Nuclear Bunker, Kelvedon Hatch, Brentwood. Yes” Secret”. The bunker was built on land requisitioned from J.A.Parrish.
In 1992, the bunker was bought back from the government by the Parrish family, and hence is now privately owned, and open to the public.
Tracey has over twenty years experience from competing in events like, London Marathon, Duathlons and Adventure Races.
The first two annual races were Lactic Rush in May 2011 and Lactic Fallout in November 2011 both (Cross Country Adventure obstacle races) proved to be very popular with feedback like “That’s the muddiest, Wettest, tiring, yet funniest race I’ve ever done”
It became evident to the team that cross country adventure racing was a growing sport and that Essex has a shortage of venues and events for the Triathlete's and Mountain Bikers. So in January Adventure Race Essex launched two additional races to cater for people that like to ride Mountain Bikes too. A cross country Duathlon 9th June and Mountain Bike Enduro 16th September which is being headed up by Damian Williams.
The Duathlon XC 10k Run XC 20K Ride XC 5k Run and a sprint XC 5km Run XC 10k XC 5k run, which is all set on the land around The Secret Nuclear Bunker which offers a wide range of elements from single track some nice up’s, down’s, open farmland, technical and a bit of water and of course a few long up hills. This will test and thrill in equal measure.
The Mountain Bike Enduro race will use the same course as the Duathlon the event will be split into 2, 4 hour races and a Family fun ride opening it up to ages from 10 years.
Adventure Race Essex seems to tick all the boxes for a good days racing by allowing access to some of Essex’s undulating and beautiful countryside and offering good road access, free camping, trade stands, refreshments’, free parking and various other activities for all the family (at a discount).
